1993 IMP-8 Data Available For GEM  Campaign
-------------------------------------------

   All the IMP-8 magnetic field data in 1993 have now been received
and stored at UCLA Space Physics Data Center, thanks to Ron Lepping
and Gary Marechek. The data in Jan., 1994 will also be available in 
2~3 weeks. If you need to check the availability of IMF data
for your intervals or need the digital data, please send a request
to Guan Le at guan at igpp.ucla.edu. 

  The IMP-8 IMF data in ascii format for GEM WG3 intervals are now stored
on the site "terra.igpp.ucla.edu" and can be retrieved via internet 
anonymous ftp. The procedures are as follow:
1. ftp to terra.igpp.ucla.edu;
2. login as "anonymous", use your name or email address as password;
3. change directory: "cd /scratch/gem/imp8";
4. command "ls" will give you all the file names;
5. Use command "get file_name" to retrieve the data.

   IMF data files for WG3 intervals are:

These data are in GSM coordinates and have a time resolution of 61.4 seconds.
There are 14 data columns in these files containing Universal Time, Magnetic
Field and Spacecraft Position:
columns 1-7:   Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute, Second, mSeconds;
Columns 8-11:  Bx(GSM), By(GSM), Bz(GSM), and |B| in nT;
Columns 12-14: X(GSM), Y(GSM), and Z(GSM) in RE.

If a paper results from your analysis of these data, please remember to 
acknowledge Ron Lepping for providing the data.

Finally as a reminder, the deadline to register the Snowmass Workshops
and submit the poster title has passed (June 10). If you missed this
deadline, please inform Ted Rosenberg immediately.
