JOB ANNOUNCEMENT - RESEARCH POSITION/PHYSICIST, SEL/NOAA

Research Position/Physicist/GS-1310-13/($51,688-67,192). Position may be 
filled at GS-1310-14 level ($61,081-$79,402).

The Geospace Branch of the Space Environment Laboratory of NOAA+s 
Environmental Research Laboratories invites applications for a physical 
scientist specializing in magnetospheric physics. The position is 
located in Boulder, Colorado.

The incumbent must have published original research on magnetospheric 
physics and solar-terrestrial interactions, and have experience working 
with and developing models of space physics processes including 
comparisons of model results with scientific data.

The incumbent will utilize data, theory and models to carry out research
on solar-terrestrial interactions and magnetospheric processes.  The 
incumbent will be responsible for evaluating available models and for 
conducting research that leads to the development and implementation of
magnetospheric models for operational use. The incumbent will also be 
responsible for validating and utilizing energetic particle data from the 
Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES).   S/he serves
as a laboratory expert and contact for space environment models.
