Funds Available for Data Set Preservation and Supply

The magnetospheric branch of the SPDS announces the immediate 
availability of limited funding (`$10K/proposal) for the preservation
and distribution of important data sets on line.  During this round
of funding preference will be given to proposals which place valuable
digital data sets on line, preferably in conjunction with descriptions
and images accessible via the World Wide Web.  Proposals to increase
disk space would be consonent with the objectives of this announcement.
Evidence of institutional support which leverages the effort will be
a factor in allocating funding.

Prospective proposers are urged to contact one of the members of the 
SPDS panel (see the WWW page http://nssdca.gsfc.nasa.gov/spds/spds.html)
prior to submitting 9 copies of a work statement including costs (not 
to exceed 2 pages in length) to D. G. Sibeck.  Proposers whose efforts
are selected for further consideration will be invited to submit a 
formal (but equally brief) proposal to NASA Headquarters during the
summer of 1995 for funding prior to the end of the fiscal year.
