Second Notice and Futher Details for Mini-Workshop on the November 93 Storm
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: freeman at alfven.rice.edu (John Freeman)

A roll-up-our-sleeves workshop to study the details of the November 93
storm will be held March 7 and 8 at the Department of Space Physics and
Astronomy, Rice University, 6100 S. Main st., Houston, Tx. This will be a
sit-around-the-table, no-prepared-papers workshop with computers and other
necessary tools provided. Anyone with an interest in the November 1993
storm and previous period is invited.

We will convene at 9 AM on March 7th (Thursday) in Room 220 of the Space
Science Building. The first order of business will be a short planning
session during which I will present a list of the facilites, data sets and
models available. We can then decide who will focus on which data sets and
models and ideas for testing and then we will break up into groups to
launch the attack.

***In order expedite this please send me as list of what you intend to
bring to the meeting or have computer access to and/or what your special
interests are. ***

Several individuals who can not come to the workshop have offered to send
data. For example, I expect to have a complete set of Freya images for the
event. Also, Dan Wiemer has offered his Polar Cap Potential patterns.

The workshop will end at 3 PM on March 8th.

No formal registration or advance notice is required and there is no fee
for the workshop. Just come if you can.

Lodging at the Rice University Graduate house is just $35. There are other
hotels within walking distance of the campus as listed below.

Houston is served by two airports, Houston Hobby and Houston
Intercontinental. Hobby is the closest to Rice. Both airports have shuttle
service to the nearby hotels listed below.

Umbe Cantu will serve as our hostess. She can answer detailed questions
about arrangements. She can be reached at umbe at spacsun.rice.edu or
713-527-4939.

Regards, John Freeman freeman at alfven.rice.edu or 713-285-5212

All these hotels are within walking distance from Rice campus. The Harvey
Suites and Holiday Inn recently merged so they are owned by the same
company.

The Plaza Hilton and Harvey Suites offer limousine service. The airport
express is stationed at the Harvey Suites and is within walking distance
from all the other hotels listed here. If you decide to stay at the
Hilton (my favorite), they will gladly take you to Harvey to catch your
shuttle bus. Looking forward to seeing you, Umbe
