Monday 10:30-12:00

PROJECT D: First SuperDARN reconnection studies from last years campaigns

1. 22-24 Aug. 95 (Three satellites in dawn-side solar wind) and 21-22 Nov.
95. Good WIND IMF data:

     Greenwald: N. hemisphere SuperDARN

     Rodger: S. hemisphere SuperDARN (Halley)

     R. Nakamua: GEOTAIL data

2. ISTP 18-19 Oct. 95 magnetic cloud event.

Lu: AMIE results, and WIND, GEOTAIL, IMP8 data

     Greenwald: N. hemisphere SuperDARN data

     Rodger: S. hemisphere SuperDARN (Halley)

     MacDougal: 3-station polar-cap digital ionosonde

     R. Nakamura: GEOTAIL data

3. Any interesting SuperDARN data for the following dates?

11-14 Jan. 94 (1 radar pair, plus Goose and Halley; polar-cap digital
ionosonde)
5-6 July 94 (1 radar pair, plus Goose and Halley)
      5-7 Dec. 94 (2-pairs plus Halley; Halley data excellent on 6 Dec.;
polar-cap digital ionosonde)
28 Feb.- 2 Mar. 95 (2-pairs plus Finland and Halley)
WIND tail crossings on 20 Aug., 17 Sept. (Greenland B interesting), 29
Nov. (Greenland B interesting).

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Monday 1:30-3:00

PROJECT D: Continuation of 3 above if necessary.

PROJECT A: Identify separatrix and 2-dimensional flow versus time across and
in vicinity of separatrix.

1. Pinnock/Rodger: Further HF radar studies of dayside reconnection,
including reliability analyses

21 July 1992: Excellent Goose and Halley Bay data; well-defined IMF
changes.  Analysis of simultaneous data from both hemispheres in progress;
Relation to AMIE.

Multi-event study of small-scale structure in reconnection rates

2. Blanchard: Determination of dayside reconnection rates from
incoherent-scatter radar data. Update on technique under development

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Monday 3:30-5:00

PROJECT B: Continued studies of Aug. 2-4, 1991 period

1. Ridley: Convection reversal boundaries. Different types of boundaries
(shear, rotational, traveling waves) related to solar wind parameters.

PROJECT C: Pinnock/Rodger/Mende: Identify and test separatrix identification
techniques with dayside optical observations, DMSP, and radars. Any
interesting data or results?

     Dates: 6-7 Jan. 1992; 14 Jan. 1994, 6-7 Dec. 1994

PROJECT E: Polar cap convection and relations to other features

1. Lyons/Lu: "Synoptic Space Weather Maps" for Jan. 12-13, 1989 very stable
IMF almost in x-direction. Initial results

2. Lu: Consideration of future periods for "Synoptic Space Weather Maps"
(July 20-21, 1992; Oct. 18-19, 1995)

PROJECT F: Spence: Polar high-altitude data from cusps/dayside boundary
layers

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 3:30-4:15

Summary Session: What have we done and what do we want to pursue for Snowmass
1997?
