     Development Plans for the GEM Geospace General Circulation Model

The GEM Steering Committee has endorsed the plan developed by the GEM
Geospace General Circulation Model (GGCM) Campaign for the development of a
GGCM. 

In summary this plan calls for the development of detailed concepts for 
the structure and management of a community based GGCM over the next year. 
These studies will lead to a competition to establish one or more GGCM 
centers that would manage the construction of a GGCM.

The GEM Steering Committee encourages the submission of proposals for GGCM 
concept studies to the NSF GEM Program. The target date for the submission
of all proposals to the GEM program is 15 October 1996.
