CALL FOR PAPERS FOR IAGA SESSION 3.06: ULF WAVES AS DIAGNOSTICS OF
MAGNETOSPHERIC PROCESSES
------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Howard J. Singer <hsinger at sec.noaa.gov>

                     IAGA Session 3.06
ULF Waves As Diagnostics Of Magnetospheric Processes

August 8, 1996, Friday, AM and PM

ULF waves convey information about the dynamics and morphology of the
magnetosphere and its coupling to the solar wind and ionosphere. This
session will focus on the use of these waves as a diagnostic probe of
magnetospheric systems. There remains great potential for ULF wave
observations to advance our understanding of processes such as solar
wind-magnetosphere coupling, substorm physics, and remote sensing of
magnetospheric structures. We anticipate that during the next few years
novel observations of ULF phenomena, from both ground and space, will
provide new insight into global and micro-scale magnetospheric processes.
Contributions of wave studies investigating planetary magnetospheres and
studies involving waves observed in parameters other than the magnetic field
are encouraged.

This symposium will consist of two half-day sessions comprised of invited
oral presentations (25 min); a limited number of contributed oral
presentations (15 minutes), a poster session , and an invited preview of the
poster session.

ABSTRACT DEADLINE is February 28, 1997. Abstracts should follow IAGA
rules and should be submitted for invited as well as for contributed
papers. The abstracts can be submitted either electronically via WWW
(http://www.irfu.se/iaga_97.html) or by mail, using the form to be
distributed later in November. The Lead Convenor should also be sent
copies of abstracts.
