GGCM WG-2

At the GEM workshop in Snowmass there will be a two-hour session on
Wednesday of Working Group 2 on Modules related to the GGCM.  Our intention
is not to schedule any invited presentations but rather leave the time for
open discussion on possible modules, existing or future ones. A preliminary
list consists of

- magnetopause (this is perhaps too broad and might include several topics)
- radiation belts (sources, losses etc.)
- auroral acceleration region
- ionosphere
- collisionless dissipation (substorm onset context)
- turbulent transport
- anisotropy and isotropization
- energetic particle acceleration, injections
- MHD modules (equilibrium and dynamical models for more localized studies)

Our intention is to define modules that leave room for independent studies
as well as for the connection with the MHD skeleton. Questions to be
discussed include (1) the assessment of existing modules and what other
modules are desired, (2) the necessary input for each module, and (3) the
output provided by each module. Some of the suggested modules provide
feedback to the MHD skeleton, while others provide additional output (for
instance, via test particles).

If you want to contribute to the discussion you are encouraged to bring one
or two viewgraphs on existing or planned modules; however, do not plan for
more than a brief discussion.
