Post Doctoral Positions available at the Danish Meteorological Institute
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Solar Terrestrial Physics Division of the Danish Meteorological
Institute anticipates several openings for scientists to work on
the analysis of high-precision magnetic field data from the Ørsted
and SAC-C satellites and data from a chain of magnetometers located
in Greenland. Scientific investigations to be undertaken relate to
the coupling of energy and momentum from the solar wind to the
magnetosphere, ionosphere, and atmosphere, including the generation
of electric currents, and the electrodynamics of the polar ionosphere.
Supporting measurements of the high-energy charged particle environment
are available from both Ørsted and from ground-based stations.

One of the positions will be to head the geomagnetic research
activities at DMI. It is expected that the person chosen has previous
experience with ground observations, and will take initiatives to
further expand our facilities and to collaborate and coordinate with
institutions around the world.

Applicants must have, or expect to receive in the near future,
a Ph.D., and preferably have a background in space plasma physics,
planetary science, or solar physics. Experience in data analysis and
software development is highly desirable.

The positions are available for three years with the possibility
of renewal, and salaries will be commensurate with experience.
Interested applicants should submit their curriculum vitae,
list of publications, and names of three references
(including institutional and email addresses)
by 18 May, 1998, to:
	The Director General
        Danish Meteorological Institute
        Lyngbyvej 100>
        2100 Copenhagen Ø
