*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 8, Number 43 November 24, 1998 ------------------------------------------------------ The December 5 GGCM Working Group Program Announcement ------------------------------------------------------ From: Michael Hesse The GEM/GGCM Campaign will have a working group meeting on Dec. 5 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm in the Pacific Heights and Presidio Rooms of the Cathedral Hill Hotel in San Francisco. The main discussion topics will be the status of the Boston University "Center for Integrated Space Weather Modeling" Science and Technology Center Proposal and recent developments pertaining to the Community Coordinated Modeling and Development Center (CCMC). A review of GEM/GGCM phase 1 efforts will also be provided. The meeting format is a panel discussion. Panelists will each provide a short presentation on their views of the CCMC or STC, followed by a general question-and-answer period. Panelists who have agreed to participate are: K. Baker, NSF M. Heinemann, AFRL M. Hesse, NASA/GSFC J. Hughes, Boston U T. Onsager, NOAA/SEC L. Zanetti, NASA/HQ The session will be moderated by R. Wolf (Rice U.), who will also try to provide a status report on the GGCM phase 1 efforts. Because of the status of both STC and CCMC efforts as well as the importance of community involvement in both, we solicit comments and suggestions from all interested parties, ranging from users to contributors.
