Announcement for Joint CEDAR-GEM-SHINE Session on JUne 18-19, 1999
------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Nancy Crooker (CROOKER at buasta.bu.edu)

Joint CEDAR-GEM-SHINE Session:
Solar-Terrestrial Coupling Processes
June 18, Math 100, CU-Boulder, Boulder, CO

Joint SHINE-GEM session:
Killer Electrons: Solar-Heliospheric Connections
June 19, 9:00AM-noon, Space Environment Laboratory, Boulder, CO

SHINE is an affiliation of researchers dedicated to promoting enhanced
understanding of and predictive capabilities for solar disturbances that
propagate to Earth. Until now SHINE has met on an irregular basis in
conjunction with larger meetings. SHINE 99 marks the first in a planned series
of summer workshops sponsored by NSF. All parties interested in the
solar-heliospheric aspects of space weather are encouraged to attend.

The structure of SHINE 99 will be informal, with working group sessions and
poster papers. Formal presentations will be limited to a few invited tutorials
and reviews. The joint SHINE-GEM session will feature three invited speakers
followed by a panel discussion. For program and other details on these
SHINE-sponsored meetings, click on "Meetings" at
		http://sec.noaa.gov/shine.
For registration materials, e-mail your request along with your postal address
to
		kcaracog at bu-ast.bu.edu.

Grants to cover SHINE 99 registration and housing expenses for graduate
students and post-doctoral researchers will be available. Requests should be
sent to crooker at bu.edu along with a brief description of thesis research and
thesis director name.
