*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 9, Number 47 December 1, 1999 ----------------------------------- Updates to the GEM Storms Web Pages ----------------------------------- From: Geoff Reeves (reeves at lanl.gov) The GEM Inner Magnetosphere Storms web pages have recently been updated with new material. The GEM Storms web pages are at http://leadbelly.lanl.gov/GEM_Storms/GEMstorms.html New material includes: 1) Local time maps of the ground magnetic perturbations at mid- and low-latitudes. These maps show the ground-level magnetic response to the asymmetric ring current as well as the effects of the substorm current wedge near midnight. 2) Plots of the Polar Cap Index from Vostok at 1-minute resolution. 3) A "General Data Links" section that provides links to sites with data and summary plots that include, but are not specific to, the GEM Storm intervals. This includes the University of Alaska's magnetometer data. 4) AMIE-derived geomagnetic indices for the October 1999 storm. (Data for the other GEM storms was posted previously and is still available). On behalf of the campaign chairs I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this effort and I would like to encourage anyone else who would like to participate but has not yet done so to send me your material, your links, you interpretations, or anything else you would like to contribute.
