Job Announcement - Research Associate in Theoretical and
Computational Space Plasma Physics at Boston University
--------------------------------------------------------
From: Meers Oppenheim (meerso at bu.edu)

The Center for Space Physics (CSP) at Boston University invites
applications for a research associate position in theoretical and
computational space plasma physics. The successful applicant will join
a group of researchers studying a range of problems in the Earth's
ionosphere and magnetosphere, including: (1) particle-wave interactions
in the auroral ionosphere, magnetotail, and foreshock regions; (2)
non-linear wave dynamics in the E-region ionosphere; and (3) evolution
of meteor trails arising from the ablation of micro-meteoroids entering
the atmosphere. The area of computational space plasma physics has seen
substantial growth in the last few years as evidenced by a number of
recent faculty positions in this area.

CSP members engage in a variety of research including: magnetospheric
physics; ionospheric physics; upper atmospheric physics; and planetary and
cometary studies. The center includes 13 research and teaching faculty, 17
research associates and support staff and over a dozen graduate students.
For more information on the center visit: www.bu.edu/csp.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in space plasma physics or a related
field, preferably with experience in theoretical and/or computational
space plasmas. The position is available immediately and funding exists
until May 2003 with extensions possible. Salaries range from $36,000 to
$44,000, depending on the background and experience of the candidate.
To apply, the candidate should send a letter describing their interests
and plans, a current CV, and the names of at least 3 people willing to
write letters of references to Prof. Meers Oppenheim, CSP, 725
Commonwealth Ave., Boston, MA, 02215. For more information, send email
to meerso at bu.edu or visit: astro.bu.edu/~meerso/research.
