*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 12, Number 39 November 21, 2002 ------------------------------------------------ Fall AGU GEM Mini-workshop Session to discuss proposed future GEM campaigns ------------------------------------------------ From Mary Hudson, mary.hudson at dartmouth.edu Session to discuss proposed future GEM campaigns 3:30-5:30 Thursday December 5 SF Marriot Hotel So far, suggestions range from the very general study of Solar Wind/Magnetosphere coupling, by analogy to the M-I coupling campaign; more specifically, a campaign to study interaction between the solar wind and plasma sheet has been proposed; finally, a campaign to diagnose the magnetospheric plasma using ULF waves has been suggested, perhaps specific enough to be carried out by a new working group within the inner magnetosphere/storms campaign. Further suggestions are welcome, and discussion encouraged at the open session on Dec 5, which will be followed by the GEM Steering Committee meeting. We hope to narrow options down to two to pursue with tutorials and working group breakout sessions at the June workshop in Snowmass. The idea is to reach a consensus by the end of our June meeting on the next campaign. Please share your ideas at the preliminary planning session on Dec 5, or e-mail mary.hudson at dartmouth.edu.
