*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 13, Number 48 November 20, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------- IMS WG3 ULF Waves Working Group Activity at GEM Mini-Workshop -------------------------------------------------------------- From: Brian Fraser The following session will take place in the GEM Mini-Workshop on Sunday December 7, 2003 in San Francisco. IMS - WG3 ULF Waves Working Group - Inner Magnetosphere and Storms Campaign. Towards a ULF Wave Index In order to undertake statistical studies on the association of ULF waves with other phenomena there is a need to establish a Wave Index parameter. For example, studies on the relationship between MeV electron acceleration and ULF waves at storm times could make use of a standard ULF wave index. This session will present talks on the current status of research from different perspectives and will be followed by a brief discussion on future plans for this research within GEM. Speakers include Ian Mann, Peter Chi and Brian Fraser.
