*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 14, Number 27 June 2, 2004 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Notice of IMAGE EUV and HENA Data Availability for the GEM Inner Magnetosphere/Storms Campaign Assessment Challenge ----------------------------------------------------------------- From: Mike Liemohn Jerry Goldstein Dennis Gallagher Pontus C:son Brandt Data from the IMAGE EUV and HENA instruments for the selected GEM IM/S Assessment Challenge events are now available on the web. EUV data can be found at this ftp site: ftp://ftp.nsstc.org/gem Files include individual snapshots and movies, both from the IMAGE spacecraft perspective as well as mapped to the equatorial plane. In addition, several plasmapause location extractions are available. A README file in the main directory contains a thorough explanation of the information at the site. Other data sets, as they are prepared and made available, will be posted on this site. Those wishing to put files on this site should contact Dennis Gallagher. HENA data can be found at this website: http://sd-www.jhuapl.edu/IMAGE/serv_data2/gemchallenge/ Preliminary inversions and HENA images for the 27-39 keV range are available here. Images and inversions for the entire 10-198 keV range of HENA are forthcoming. The XHENA image-plotting software is also available on the web (http://sd-www.jhuapl.edu/IMAGE/). Please remember that all users of these data products are requested to interact with the data providers to ensure proper usage and interpretation. Other data are available by directly contacting individual data providers. Please see the GEM IM/S Assessment Challenge website for details (http://csem.engin.umich.edu/GEM_IMS/). Several sessions at the 2004 GEM Workshop are devoted to GEM IM/S Assessment Challenge presentations and discussions. Several talks are already planned discussing the details of these (and other) data sets. Please see the Workshop schedule (http://gem.rice.edu/~gem/gem2004/index.html) for details and contact the appropriate session convener to request time on the agenda. Poster presentations are also welcome and encouraged; requests should be submitted through the Workshop website by June 4. +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |To subscribe GEM Messengers, send an e-mail to | | with the following command in the body of your e-mail message: | | subscribe gem | |To remove yourself from the mailing list, the command is: | | unsubscribe gem | | | |To broadcast a message to the GEM community, please contact Peter Chi at | | | |Please use plain text as the format of your submission. | | | |URL of GEM Home Page: http://www-ssc.igpp.ucla.edu/gem/Welcome.html | |Workshop Information: http://gem.rice.edu/~gem | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
