*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 15, Number 27 June 3, 2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- IM/S Session 8: Quantitative Analysis of Precipitation Loss during Storms -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Jacob Bortnik Tuesday, June 28th 2005, AM (after the break) WG focus: WG2 & WG3 This session focuses on the loss of energetic radiation-belt electrons during geomagnetically disturbed conditions. We welcome contributions from both experimental and theoretical studies that quantify and assess the roles played by various loss mechanisms including drift resonance with ULF waves, cyclotron resonance with ELF/VLF waves, loss to the magnetopause, loss of adiabaticity due to field-line stretching, and so on. Presentations are informal, workshop-style. Abstracts should be sent to Terry Onsager (terry.onsager@noaa.gov) and/or Jacob Bortnik (jbortnik@gmail.com) +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |To subscribe GEM Messengers, send an e-mail to | | with the following command in the body of your e-mail message: | | subscribe gem | |To remove yourself from the mailing list, the command is: | | unsubscribe gem | | | |To broadcast a message to the GEM community, please contact Peter Chi at | | | |Please use plain text as the format of your submission. | | | |URL of GEM Home Page: http://www-ssc.igpp.ucla.edu/gem/Welcome.html | |Workshop Information: http://gem.rice.edu/~gem | +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+
