*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 15, Number 58 November 18, 2005 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Global Interactions (GI) Campaign Session at Fall AGU (GEM Mini-Workshop) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Jean Berchem Magnetopause workshop (second announcement) The mini-workshop will be held on Sunday December 4, 2005, just prior to the Fall AGU meeting in San Francisco. Time: 3:30 - 5:30 PM; Location: San Francisco Marriott Hotel. Chair: Jean Berchem, jberchem at igpp.ucla.edu This mini workshop on the magnetopause will be focused on component and antiparallel merging models. In particular, we will discuss kinetic aspects, results from global models and experimental tests of the models. The ultimate goal of the workshop will be to establish a plan of action to further test the models and evaluate particle entry and momentum/energy transfer at the magnetopause as a function of the IMF direction.
