Solicitation for GEM Community Participation in a Special Planning Session 
for the New GEM Focus Group "Plasmasphere-Magnetosphere Interactions"

The 2008 GEM workshop will officially kick off the new Focus Group 
"Plasmasphere-Magnetosphere Interactions" (PMI).  The Focus Group
proposal is available at http://tinyurl.com/6d56vj.

Since this is a new Focus Group, we'd like to start things off with strong, 
broad community input on the direction and goals of our Focus Group.  
Accordingly, we have scheduled a special planning session on Wed, 25 June.
(See Planning Session Description Below.)

The PMI Planning Session will allow the GEM community to participate in an 
open forum.   A strawman schedule (for the coming years of PMI activity) 
will be presented for consideration and free-form discussion.  This schedule 
is available at http://tinyurl.com/5ro8xg

We welcome the contribution of brief (a few slides, or ~5 minutes) 
presentations to support this session.  We are looking for presentations 
that fit any of the following criteria

-  Highlights a particular science topic that is already included in the PMI
schedule (http://tinyurl.com/5ro8xg), and maps out a campaign for 
closure on this topic.

-  Highlights an important science topic that is NOT included in the PMI 
schedule.

-  Presents suggestions to improve or refine the current PMI schedule.

Anyone interested in participating or contributing is encouraged to email

PMI Planning:  "Focus Group Planning Session (Open Discussion)"

In this session, we invite the GEM community to participate in an open forum 
to plan the PMI Focus Group.  A strawman schedule will be presented for 
free-form discussion, but any interested parties are welcome to make brief 
(5-minute) presentations (including science) if they are relevant to 
planning this focus group.
