Special GEM-ULTIMA Forum on Ground Magnetometer Observations at 2010 GEM Mini-workshop ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Peter Chi A special GEM-ULTIMA Forum and the 2010 ULTIMA General Meeting will be held together at the GEM Mini-workshop in San Francisco on Sunday, December 12. This joint meeting consists of two sessions: The first session is focused on status reports from magnetometer arrays and discussions of ULTIMA operation; the second session is devoted to science presentations based mainly on ground magnetometer observations. The meeting time and location can be found in the GEM Mini-workshop schedule at: http://aten.igpp.ucla.edu/gem/pdf/MiniWorkshopSchedule_GEM2010_r3.pdf Established in 2006, Ultra Large Terrestrial International Magnetometer Array (ULTIMA) is an international consortium that aims at promoting collaborative research on the magnetosphere, ionosphere, and upper atmosphere through the use of ground-based magnetic field observations. The current ULTIMA members include the investigators of the following magnetometer arrays: AAIMNet (Australian), AUTUMN, CARISMA, IGPP-LANL, MACCS, MAGDAS, McMAC, MEASURE, SAMBA, SEGMA, and THEMIS (GBO/EPO). The data service project SuperMAG is affiliated with ULTIMA as an Observer. More information about ULTIMA can be found at http://www.serc.kyushu-u.ac.jp/ultima/ultima.html . This special forum is open to all the members of GEM and other interested parties. Magnetometer teams that are not currently affiliated with ULTIMA are encouraged to participate.
