*************************** ** THE GEM MESSENGER ** *************************** Volume 21, Number 3 March 20, 2011 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GEM Position Openings ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: D. G. Sibeck (david.g.sibeck at nasa.gov) Candidates are sought for two positions on the GEM Steering Committee: (1) Chair-Elect and (2) Regular (Voting) Member. The first opening will occur as Mike Liemohn steps down after a successful two-year period as Chair and I assume his position. The second opening will occur as Nick Omidi steps down as a member of the Steering Committee. An election at the Steering Committee meeting on the penultimate or final day of the forthcoming GEM/CEDAR meeting in Santa Fe this June will fill these positions. Candidates may be asked for brief statements of interest at this meeting. The Chair-Elect will work closely with me and the members of the Steering Committee to define GEM science activities over the next two years, and then take the position of Chair when I step down in 2013. The new member of the Steering Committee will serve for three years, participating fully in GEM activities and helping chart its future. Potential candidates are invited to contact me or any other member of the steering committee for further information and to declare their interest in one or both of these positions. See http://aten.igpp.ucla.edu/gemwiki/index.php/Organization_and_People for a list of current Steering Committee members and liaisons.
