All Mini-GEM sessions will take place in the third floor meeting rooms. The magnetic mapping session will focus on two goals. 1. Progress updates and new contributions: if you are interested in providing a brief update on your progress since GEM or would like to contribute something new to the discussion of magnetic mapping, please contact one of us at the email addresses below. 2. GEM Challenge Discussion: At the last GEM meeting, we decided to choose a few events which could be used to compare mapping techniques (both data-based and model-based). We are in the process of gathering possible event dates. The list we have so far can be found at the end of this email. Please bring ideas for alternative events and information such as data availability during each of the events, etc. We would like to whittle this list down to a few events. Our discussion at mini-GEM will focus on what needs to be done to achieve this so we can kick off a challenge at the next GEM meeting. In case you want to brush up on the discussions from GEM last June, most of the talks are online here: bit.ly/gem_mapping Thanks very much for your participation, Liz MacDonald (macdonald@lanl.gov) Eric Donovan (edonovan@ucalgary.ca) Robyn Millan (Robyn.Millan@dartmouth.edu) GEM Challenge - list of potential events for comparison - List of events from Nishimura et al, 2011 (GRL) a 20081109 0627 b 20081207 0556 c 20090215 0111 d 20090215 0138 e 20090215 0144 f 20100106 0531 g 20100106 0617 h 20100106 0637 i 20100114 0508 j 20100204 0349 k 20100306 0154 l 20100306 0154 m 20100306 0213 - Large omega band event 3/9/2008, hasn't been studied much, very clear skies over Can.
