Proposals for New GEM Focus Groups Available at GemWiki ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Peter Chi , GEM Communications Coordinator Six proposals for consideration of new GEM focus groups starting from next summer have been posted on the front page of the GemWiki site at: http://aten.igpp.ucla.edu/gemwiki/index.php/Main_Page ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. 2013 GEM Mini-workshop: Scientific Magnetic Mapping and Techniques ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Liz MacDonald , Robyn Millan , Eric Donovan The Scientific Magnetic Mapping and Techniques Focus Group will have two sessions at the upcoming mini-GEM in the 'City Room'. We hope you will join us. More information on the focus group can be found at www.bit.ly/gem_mapping. The first session (12:00-1:50) will be dedicated to discussion and progress on our modeling challenges. The first challenge 'Who's afraid of the Open Closed Boundary?' features RBSP, LANL-GEO, CRCM, RCM, TS07, and more results for the lobe crossing events on 11/14/12. The second challenge is 'more fun than a BARREL of monkeys' featuring progress on 2/2/13 with BARREL, RBSP, and LANL-GEO. The second session (2:20-4:10) will cover large-scale boundary mapping featuring FAST processed data and the CCMC. Eric will lead discussion of these results. Extra time will be devoted to discussion of the new results and plans for GEM. If you'd like to speak please get in touch with Liz MacDonald, Robyn Millan, or Eric Donovan and feel free to attend and participate in the discussion! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. 2013 GEM Mini-workshop: ULTIMA-GEM Forum on Ground Magnetometers – Meeting Agenda ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Peter Chi A ULTIMA-GEM Forum on ground magnetometers will again be held at the GEM Mini-workshop.
