Submit Focus Group Report
The old submission form is no longer monitored. FG reports should be emailed to the FG's RAC: GEM Organization and People
Purpose: Focus Group Reports are required documentation that help NSF assess the progress of the GEM program. Think of them like annual reports you provide for your grants—they are a form of oversight. Secondly, the reports are a way for the GEM community to know what is going on in your sessions in case they couldn’t attend. It’s a form of advertisement to demonstrate to the community what awesome science is happening!
Deadline: The reports must be submitted within 6 weeks of the summer GEM Workshop to your FG’s primary RAC to be compiled in the GEMStone Newsletter.
Final Report: After a FG concludes, it must also submit a Final Report which summarizes the FG activities throughout its tenure.
Information that reports should include:
-
1. Required Information:
- a. Focus Group name
- b. Focus Group Leader names
- c. Summary of December Mini-GEM activities
- d. Summary of Summer GEM Workshop activities
- e. Include estimate of the attendance number for your sessions
- f. Assessment on progress towards meeting FG goals (may be stated within the summary of activities)
2. Highly Encouraged Information:
- a. A list of presenters and titles (if applicable). A couple sentence summaries could be included—One practice used by FG leaders in the past was to email presenters to ask that they provide the couple sentence summary. That takes a lot of the burden off your own shoulders!
- b. The means/tools employed to engage the community in an effort to maintain interactive workshop style sessions
- c. Efforts to address diversity and inclusion in the research area
- d. Significant Publications: List publications that acknowledge the FG, were presented during a session, etc. (Suggest emailing participants to submit their paper citations to you.)
- e. Plans moving forward
You may of course include anything else not listed here.
